MCA Mental Health & Wellness Sector Welcomes New Mental Health Therapist

Meaghan McDougald

The MCA Department of Health's Mental Health & Wellness Sector would like to extend a warm welcome to its new Mental Health Therapist, Meaghan McDougald, M. Ed., RP (Qualifying). Meaghan joins the Mental Health & Wellness team with an extensive and comprehensive background in mental health.

Meaghan is a qualifying psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. She has roots in the surrounding areas of the Cornwall community, having attended Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School before pursuing her post-secondary education.

Meaghan has attained a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University, and a Master of Education with a concentration in Counselling Psychology from the University of Ottawa. Meaghan joins the Mental Health & Wellness sector with training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and RO DBT. These therapeutic approaches are designed to help individuals navigate complex emotional and psychological experiences impacting daily functioning and well-being.

With her background in teaching primary and special education and practicing psychotherapy with the developmental services population of the Cornwall and SD&G areas, Meaghan is committed to empowering individuals and families to build emotional and psychological resilience through adversity, cultivate mindfulness, and enhance their overall well-being.

Meaghan is excited to engage in continuous education and development while helping contribute to the growth and success of the Mental Health and Wellness sector, as well as the broader community of Akwesasne.
