A Voice from the Eastern Door
The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police (SRMTP) have partnered with and Franklin County Traffic Safety Board in a proactive effort to address the increased rates of motor vehicle operator impairment on the roadways. The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police have received new technology which will help to facilitate testing drivers for impairment on the roadside. The new technology is intended to supplement to already existing training and procedures used by officers to identify and detect driver impairment. The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police is a participating member of the Franklin County Traffic Safety Board (FCTSB), a board that works collectively to enhance traffic safety through collaboration within Franklin County.
The new roadside screening device will assist officers in detecting motor vehicle operators that are impaired by alcohol, drugs, or a combination of both. SRMPT would like to thank the Franklin County Traffic Safety Board for their support and for providing new technology in our efforts to keep the roadways of Akwesasne safe, as well as the residents and motorists passing through the territory. They also express a thank you to Craig Collette, Franklin County STOP-DWI Coordinator, for his continued support.
