MCA Mental Health & Wellness Sector Welcomes New Mental Health Therapist

The Department of Health's (DOH) Mental Health & Wellness Sector would like to welcome their new Mental Health Therapist, Malinda Villeneuve. Malinda brings over 30 years of education and experience in the field of Social Work.

Malinda is a Registered Psychotherapist, having graduated with a Master's Degree of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and is in the process of registering with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.

Malinda has previously worked with the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, having worked with both the Tsiionkwanonhso:te Long-Term Care and Iakhihsohtha Lodge and Akwesasne Child & Family Services. She has worked for over 17 years in Cornwall in various programs and services, gaining experience and knowledge in various roles. In her most recent role, she provided psychotherapy to individuals, couples, Violence Against Women survivors, Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse, and to individuals with Intellectual Disabilities.

Malinda looks forward to using her collective knowledge and experience to serve the Akwesasne community. She is trained in various modalities, such as, but not limited to: trauma therapy, grief therapy, mental health conditions such as anxiety & depression, DBT, Somatic therapy, couples therapy, and Safe & Sound Protocol. She looks forward to the challenge and being part of a specialized team, helping to advocate for the well-being and mental health of the community members she will serve.
