DOREEN F. KING

CORNWALL – Doreen F. King, 75, passed away late Tuesday evening, September 24, 2025 at Tsiionkwanonhso:te, after a brief illness.

Doreen was born in Cornwall on May 29, 1949, the daughter of the late Simon and Marjorie (Francis) King. She was raised in Kanatakon, where she went to schools in the village. She later graduated from St. Lawrence College and Willis Business College in Ottawa.

After graduation from high school, she worked for a time at the Health Clinic in Kanatakon before starting a job with Indian Affairs. She continued her employment with National Defense in Ottawa, retiring after 35 years of service. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Regis Church and member of the Akwesasne Death Benefits Group. She was an avid sports fan and would often be found in the stands or on the sidelines supporting her favorite team, loved traveling, especially to Hawaii, and more recently enjoyed playing Radio Bingo.

Doreen is survived by her sister, Nicky King, who she raised after her mother’s illness, Nicky’s daughter, Lana and Lana’s son, Cohen. She is also survived by her additional sisters, Martha George, Jennifer “Fanny” (Sherman) David, Brenda King, Veronica “Binky” Rourke; her brothers, Timothy (Tracy A.) King, Terry King (Rhonda Gray), and Tracy R. King (Dana Cook); nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Simon King, Jr., brother-in-law, Hubert Rourke, and a niece, Leslie Rourke.

Arrangements were under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, September 30, 2024 at St. Regis Catholic Church with Msgr. John Murphy celebrating.
