A Voice from the Eastern Door
She:kon Akwesasne, Cornwall and surrounding areas,
The Akwesasne Powwow Committee is humbled by the number of spectators who joined
us this past weekend.
Lamoureux Park, in the City of Cornwall, brought together powwow family and our family is
now bigger with new friendships that were made.
We were graced with 322 adult dancers, 45 Tiny Tots, 6 competing drums plus our host
drum, Charging Horse.
Mother Nature threw us a variety of weather, but people still came and supported our
event. Nia:wen/thank you to our vendors for putting up with the rain, the cold and the
wind.
We'd like to thank Lorne and the City of Cornwall for seeing our vision and working
diligently alongside us to make it happen! Nia:wen ko:wa/ Thank you very much!
Our student volunteers are an integral part of the weekend. They work tirelessly before,
during and after the powwow. We are proud to have willing and helpful students available
to us.
