It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Ernest Alexander "Satekarenhes" Gambill at Massena Memorial Hospital on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at the age of 53. Ernest "Little Ernie", Wolf Clan was born on September 14, 1970 in Cornwall, Ont. He was the eldest child to Ernest and Lorraine Gambill. Brother to the late Forrester Gambill and Venus (Will) from Akwesasne. On March 15, 1991, he married his high school sweet heart, Julia (née Black) sadly ending in divorce. Ernie attended grade school in Akwesasne, High School at CCVS and received diploma in Business Management at Loyalist College in Belleville, Ont. He later received a diploma from St. Lawrence College for Automotive Service Technician He began working at Cornwall Honda as a Master Mechanic for several years. On May 1, 2015, he opened the garage doors to Island Auto, located at 7 Skidders Road where he gave back to his community by offering youth apprenticeships and learning opportunities through his knowledge. In 2000-2004, he hosted Fresh Air Fund for a child from Brooklyn, NY and was a foster parent. He ran a youth group through the Morrisburg Pentecostal Church. He enjoyed camping at Sharbot Lake and Bon Echo as well as trips to P.E.I and long drives through upstate New York. Ernest is survived by his father Ernest Thomas Gambill; his partner Alison Dennison; his children: Brett Gambill (Meagan) and Annie Aho (Shawn); his granddaughters: Ella, Remi and Jamie, and grandson Casey; his sister Venus Gambill (Will) and goddaughter Stephanie Depratto (née Delormier). He will be dearly missed by his nephews: Nolan (Sky) and Kobe Stehlin; his niece Emma Stehlin and one grandnephew Tanner all from Akwesasne. Ernie is also survived by his close Aunt Honey Skidders and his uncles Richard (Iakonikonriiostah) and Matthew Skidders, along with many cousins and friends. Ernest is predeceased by his grandmother Marita Skidders; grandfather Jerry "Raihonkwa" Gambill; his mother Lorraine Christy Gambill (née Skidders); his brother Forester Thomas Gambill and his uncles: Charles, Alexander, Lawrence and Brian Skidders. Skidders rested at Lahaie and Sullivan West Branch, Cornwall on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 and Wednesday August 21, 2024. A Funeral Service was held at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church 434 Second Street West at 11:00AM. Memorial Donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
