Six Nations Man Charged with Possession

The Deputy Minister of Indigenous Services Canada, issued the following statement on August 28, 2024: “We were made aware of charges of possession of child pornography being brought against a 58-year-old resident of Ohsweken.

This is disturbing news, and we will do everything in our power to best support the community.

We’re making additional mental health supports available immediately and are working closely with Six Nations leadership to determine and coordinate additional community and individual supports they need.

Six Nations Police say the individual was charged following an investigation that included help from OPP digital forensics technicians.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police are continuing their investigation, and further charges may be pending.

Six Nations Police say no further information will be released because of a publication ban imposed by the courts.
