A Voice from the Eastern Door
AKWESASNE – Alex F. "BL" LaFrance, 56, of River Road, Snye, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024 at the Janet MacDonnell Pavilion in Cornwall after a lengthy illness.
Alex was born in Syracuse on September 23, 1967, the son of Barbara (Ireland) LaFrance and the late Alex H. LaFrance. He was raised in Syracuse where he graduated from Henniger High School and received his Associates Degree in Business Administration from Onondaga Community College and his Bachelors Degree in Accounting from SUNY Utica.
Alex was an accountant working for various companies, but was most recently at the First Nations Information Government Center in Ottawa. He had an adventurous spirit, loved being outdoors, camping, and wasn't afraid to take a road trip – having completed one from California at one time. Of all the hobbies and enjoyments he had, "being a Dad" was the most important and cherished one – he loved spending time with his children.
Alex is survived by his children, Alexis Jai Terrance (Tori Johnson), Alandra Marae LaFrance, and Analiyah Irene LaFrance, and their mother, Janet Terrance, all of Akwesasne; Cassidy Peters (Dylan) of Florida, and Alex H. LaFrance, II and Eli Peters, both of Akwesasne; his mother, Barbara LaFrance of Akwesasne; a chosen brother, Michael Darpino (Stephanie Gibson); and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Alex Homer LaFrance; his sisters, Leona Ireland and Ann LaFrance; and a brother, Gary LaFrance.
Friends may call at the Akwesasne Homemaker beginning at 3:00 PM on Wednesday until the time of the services on Thursday at 2:00 PM with Pastor April Bender, officiating. Following cremation, burial will be held privately in Assembly of God Cemetery.
