Akwesasne Mohawk Board of Education Hosts Second Annual Cultural Celebration

Children from the Akwesasne Child Care to AMBE school grade 3 participated in a full day of a Cultural Celebration on Thursday, May 23.

Students, their families and staff were treated to a hoop performance by Kana:takon school students, led by Feryn King), the AMS school song, the Ratirennenhawi Men's singers and singers/performers from Indigenous Experiences.

Throughout the day Akwesasne Veterans, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service and the Akwesasne Mohawk Ambulance (AMA) were honored.

The AMBE Cultrual Experience planning committee included the Iohahi:io Akwesasne Education and Training Institute, Akwesasne Child & Family Services, and the AMBE Mohawk Language & Culture.

The 2nd AMBE Cultural Celebration for grades 4-8 is coming this Thursday. Students will be entertained by The Ahkwesahsne Ratirennenhawi Men's Singers and performers from the Indigenous Experiences out of Madahoki Farm in Ottawa. Kana:takon School students will also perform with well-known hoop dancer, Feryn King.
