Native North American Travelling College
Native North American Travelling College (NNATC) has been a center of Cultural Education and community events since 1974. Our main service is to promote educate and preserve the culture and language of the Akwesasro:nen people by traveling to local and regional schools, colleges, community organization to provide cultural training, awareness of historic and contemporary issues of our people. The college also demonstrates songs, dances and provides storytelling and workshops such as beading, basketmaking and traditional clothing.
Finance Officer Brief Overview of The Position
Reporting to the Executive Director (and when necessary, to the Native North American Travelling College Board and the ONAKE Board), the Financial Accounting Officer will be responsible for the overall financial management of the Native North American Travelling College (NNATC) and the ONAKE Board. The Financial Accounting Officer is a full-time position and a key part of the NNATC organization, planning and development of programs and services. The NNATC Financial Accounting Officer will follow GAAP rules.
The Financial Accounting Officer position is responsible for the following key functions:
Financial Management
Managing employee payroll
Maintenance of financial record-keeping activities
Reconciliation of Accounts
Preparation and implementation of audit and year end activities
Administration duties
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Post secondary diploma in accounting or 5 years’ experience in accounting or Financial Management or
2-year Certification in Bookkeeping from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
Knowledge and use of accounting software.
Skilled knowledge of Canadian banking practices.
Skilled knowledge of payroll software applications.
Must be bondable.
Strong knowledge and understanding of First Nations history, culture, tradition, and language.
Proficiency in using computers: Microsoft 365, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Simply Accounting, Quick Books, Sage, or AccPac.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Able to travel freely across the International Border between Canada and the U.S. is essential.
Annual salary commensurate with experience. $50,000 to $55,000 per year
Successful applicant will be eligible for benefits after successful completion of 6-month probation period.
