Young Akwesasronon Found with 30 Cases of Untaxed Cigarette in Van

OGDENSBURG – At least 30 cases of untaxed cigarettes were seized during a routine traffic stop in the city of Ogdensburg. The driver, 19-year-old Navaeh Diabo was ticketed for following too closely and aggravated unlicensed operation.

During the stop, Ogdensburg Police Chief Mark Sterns told 7 News – WWNYTV, one of his patrol cars pulled over a white van on Route 37 around 4:30 today – Monday, May 14, 2024. The stop ended with the seizure of the untaxed cigarettes found inside the van.

NYS Police and the St. Lawrence County Sherriff’s Office responded to the shop. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security also responded and is responsible for the investigation of the untaxed cigarette.
