A Voice from the Eastern Door

Carey Terrance Chosen Third Star of Three Game Sweep

After splitting last weekend, the Otters knew some wins on the road would be dire with playoffs looming ahead.

The Otters started the week on Thursday at Peterborough with a dominant 4-2 over the Petes. After an early Petes' goal to put the Otters down by one, Erie battered Peterborough with four straight unanswered goals across all three periods. On Friday, the Otters traveled to Kingston to avenge a 6-4 loss last week, and avenge it they did. Erie beat the Frontenacs 5-3, marking the final game of the season series with Kingston. The final game for the Otters was Sunday, where they beat the Ottawa 67's in a thrilling back-and-forth 6-5 victory.

Here are the players who made this week possible:

THIRD STAR – CAREY TERRANCE

Carey Terrance had a commanding weekend with one goal, four assists, and the beginning of a three-game scoring streak.

Terrance found himself on the right end of an insurance goal against the Peterborough Petes, logging both his twenty-ninth goal and the fourth of the night for the Otters.

On Friday's revenge game against the Kingston Frontenacs, Terrance put up two assists on both the game-winner and the insurance goal. In his first assist, he and Alexis Daviault partnered to set up Sam Alfano for goal number four of the night just twelve seconds into the third period. 18 minutes later, Terrance and Bruce McDonald teed Malcolm Spence up for an empty net insurance goal to put the final nails in the coffin of an Otters' win.

In the final game of the weekend against the Ottawa 67's, Terrance had another pair of assists. His first assist came just over a minute into the second frame and, in a deja vu play, it was him and Alexis Daviault setting Sam Alfano up for a goal. 16 minutes later, Terrance found his final point of the weekend with Ty Henry, and together the two of them set up Malcolm Spence for the fourth Erie goal of the night.

SECOND STAR – SAM ALFANO

A big weekend for the Big Rig as Sam Alfano raked in the points, with four goals and one assist. In Sunday's final game against the Ottawa 67s, Alfano found another goal just over a minute into the second frame to give the Otters a 2-1 lead off a power play. Alfano's lone assist on the weekend would come less than nine minutes into the final frame of the game, where he and Dylan Edwards would set Pano Fimis up for the game-winner.

First Star of the Game - Erie's special teams would once again reign supreme over the Ottawa 67's, successfully stopping both Ottawa power play opportunities and scoring one of their own after an Ottawa penalty in the second period.
