SRCS Track & Field Teams Ends Season

On February 10, the SRC indoor track and field team competed at the Section X Championships. They may have had a small team, but Salmon walked away with some big wins on and off the track. Congratulations to Jasmine Oakes and Mataya Arquette on being named Athlete of Distinction and Oakley Hasty for Section X Outstanding Sportsmanship.

Makenna Manson will be advancing to the New York State championship meet to be held in Staten Island on March 2nd. Makenna had a huge night breaking, yet again, the Section 10 record for the 60m dash with a time of 8.04. She also took first in the 300m dash. Along with those wins she received the Northern New York Track and Field Association's Jon Hazen Award. This award is chosen by the officials and recognizes a varsity athlete with a minimum 2 years of indoor track and field experience who also meet the criteria of sportsmanship, work ethic, love of track and field, mentorship of teammates, and school citizenship. Additionally, she also received Section X Outstanding Sportsmanship, Athlete of Distinction, Section X Sprinting MVP, and 1st Team All-Northern.
