WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Danielle Smoke, 40, of Akwesasne, was arrested on Feb. 6, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Dec. 13, 2022, the woman attended the Port of Entry and operated her vehicle in a dangerous manner after being requested to stop. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. A warrant was issued for her arrest. On Feb. 6, 2024, the woman attended the Port of entry and was taken into custody by Canada Border Services Agency officers. She was turned over to the CPS, the warrant was executed, and the woman was held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO STOP AT ACCIDENT RESULTING IN BODILY HARM

Cornwall, ON – Tina Point, 51, of Akwesasne, was arrested on Feb. 10, 2024, and charged with fail to stop at accident resulting in bodily harm. On Jan. 23, 2024, police responded to call involving a pedestrian who had been struck by a motor vehicle and an investigation ensued. It is alleged on this date the woman struck a man with her vehicle. On Feb. 10, 2024, the woman attended police headquarters to address the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 21, 2024.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80

Cornwall, ON – Jesse Light, 30, of Akwesasne, was arrested on Feb. 11, 2024, and charged with impaired operation and over 80. It is alleged on Feb. 11, 2024, police observed a vehicle going the wrong way on a one-way street. A traffic stop was conducted, and an investigation ensued. The investigation revealed the woman was allegedly operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 7, 2024.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Cornwall, ON – John Laffin, 60, of Hogansburg, NY, was arrested on Feb. 11, 2024, and charged with fail to comply with release order. It is alleged on Feb. 11, 2024, the man was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to stay out of Canada, with the exception of attending for court appearances. On this date, the man attended the Port of Entry, and attempted to enter Canada. He was taken into custody by Canada Border Service Agency officers and turned over to CPS. The man was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80,

OBSTRUCT PEACE OFFICER

Cornwall, ON – Margaret Arquette, 33, of Hogansburg, NY, was arrested on Feb. 11, 2024, and charged with impaired operation and over 80 as well as obstruct peace officer. It is alleged on Feb. 11, 2024, the woman was operating her vehicle under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody by the Canada Border Services Agency. It is also alleged she resisted arrest. The woman was turned over to CPS, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Feb. 27, 2024.
