BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE
Cornwall, ON – A 53-year-old Akwesasne woman was arrested on Jan. 23, 2024 and charged with fail to comply with breach of recognizance. It is alleged on Dec. 18, 2023, the woman was bound by a recognizance with the relevant condition to not contact her son. It is alleged, the woman was in contact with him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Jan. 23, 2024, the woman was held in custody by the Canada Border Services Agency, which turned her over to the Cornwall Police Service. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 14, 2024. Her name was not released to protect the identity of the victim.
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – Debbie Smoke, 22, of Hogansburg, NY, was arrested on Jan. 25, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged the woman was scheduled to attend court on Feb. 10, 2022 and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest. On Jan. 25, 2024, the woman was held in custody at the Canada Border Services Agency, which turned her over to the Cornwall Police Service. The warrant was executed, and the woman was held for a bail hearing.
WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – Jesse Benedict, 40, of Hogansburg, NY, was arrested on Jan. 25, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on May 27, 2020, the man failed to comply with the conditions of his probation order. A warrant was issued for his arrest. On Jan. 25, 2024, the man was held in custody at the Canada Border Services Agency, which turned him over to the Cornwall Police Service. The warrant was executed, and the man was released to appear in court on March 7, 2024.
WARRANTS, FAIL TO COMPLY
Cornwall, ON – Michelle David, 37, of Cornwall, was arrested on Jan. 26, 2024, on the strength of outstanding warrants and additionally charged with fail to comply with probation order and fail to comply with release order. It is alleged on Jan. 3, 2024, the woman was scheduled to attend police headquarters for fingerprints and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest. It is also alleged on Jan. 9, 2024, the woman was scheduled to attend court and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for her arrest. Furthermore, it is alleged on Jan. 26, 2024, the woman was bound by a probation order with the relevant condition to keep the peace and be of good behavior. Finally, it is alleged on Jan. 26, 2024, the woman was bound by a release order with the relevant condition to report to Cornwall Police every Friday and sign in as required. She failed to do so. On Jan. 26, 2024, police responded to a suspicious person complaint at a Second Street East business. An investigation ensued. The woman was located, taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 7, 2024
