DENNIS D. LAZORE

SNYE- Dennis D. Shakoia'tentha "The Master" Lazore, 91, of 311 McDonald Road, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024 at his home.

Dennis was born on November 6, 1932 in St. Regis, QC, son of the late Thomas and Annie (Bero) Lazore. He attended schools in St. Regis and Snye. He then married Rose Marie Sunday. The marriage ended in divorce but not before being blessed with three children. He then married Ann Shirley Cook; the marriage ended in divorce but not before being blessed with four more children.

Dennis was a communicant of the St. Regis Catholic Church and belonged to the Mohawk Nation Longhouse, and was a member of the St. Regis Mohawk Senior Citizens. At the age of 14 he went to work in the Yukon to mine for silver. He also worked as a longshoreman, and as an ironworker before working at the Akwesasne Mohawk Board of Education as a school bus mechanic, retiring after 14 years.

"The Master" as he was known by most, was a skilled pool player. He participated in local pool leagues and played in pool tournaments in the United States and Canada. He was an automobile mechanic by trade, enjoying tinkering with any project to fix. He attended Iohahi:io for adult education later in life. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadians fan.

He enjoyed playing pool, walking in the woods, bird watching, thrift shopping, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and going for coffee with family and friends. He will be missed by all family and friends.

He is survived by his children Doreen Lazore Thompson, Theresa (Harold) Lazore Cole, Daniel (June Jackson) Lazore, Mabel (Rod) Lazore Garrow, Steven Dennis Lazore, Thomas John (Katie Cook) Lazore and David Wilfred (Daisy Cook) Lazore, all of Akwesasne. He is also survived by his grandchildren Christopher, Marlana, Samantha, Frank, Chance, Dwayne, Farrah, Jared, Jody, Daniel, Brittani, Shannon, Rachel, Rhonda, Shannel, Rod Jr., Richard, Tara, Danielle, Krysta, Aiden, Kaden, Kysen, Kowen, Kylin, Larissa, Davis, Jack; many nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Dennis was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Annie, and his siblings; William Lazore, Wilfred Lazore, Peter "Chico" Lazore, John Lazore, David Lazore, Louie Lazore Sr., Rita Lazore and Emma Thompson; nieces Linda Lazore, Cathy Lazore, Clara Thompson, Delsie Hall, Priscilla Lazore, nephews; Stanley Lazore, Peter Lazore, Gary "Red" Thompson, Louie Lazore, Jr., William "Billy" Lazore and two grandsons Tanner Jock and Ryan Lazore.

Friends may call at Akwesasne Homemakers beginning Thursday at 2 pm until the time of service on Saturday at 10am. Meal to follow at Snye Recreation.
