ANGUS J. SMOKE

CORNWALL – Angus Jerry Smoke "Beep-be", 65, a resident of Alice Street, passed away Sunday evening, December 24, 2023 at Cornwall Community Hospital, after a lengthy illness.

Angus was born March 31, 1958 in Cornwall, the son of the late Joseph H. and Cecelia (Lazore) Smoke. He attended schools in Snye, Syracuse, and Salmon River Central School. Angus worked for a time as an ironworker before becoming a self-employed contractor. He enjoyed building and fixing things, playing pool, and was a talented artist in his younger years.

Angus is survived by his daughter, Lee-Ann Menard and her husband, Mike Pronovost of Hammond, Ontario; his grandchildren, Alec and Jonah Pronovost; his sisters, Jennifer Smoke of Akwesasne, Yvonne Smoke, Margaret Wheatley, Sharon Jackson, Christina Smoke, and Ann Marie Smoke, all of Cornwall; his brother, Robert Smoke (Alicia) of Akwesasne; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son, Aaron Smoke at birth, and his brothers, Steven, Mose, and Abraham Smoke.

Friends called at the Akwesasne Homemakers until the time of his service. Burial followed in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
