Eugene Burdash, 53, of Plattsburgh, was arrested last Thursday, Nov 30, after making dozens of death threats towards Franklin County officials and their family members.

Burdash started posting threats on Facebook on Wednesday and continued into Thursday morning. As the Press Republican reports, Burdash’s posts were filled with slurs and death threats, and included pictures of Burdash holding a knife, and photos of the Oklahoma City bombing attack.

Burdash targeted numerous Franklin County officials, including the Malone Mayor and Malone Village Police, the Franklin County offices, Franklin County Legislators, and the children of County Legislator Andrea Dumas.

In response, the Franklin County Courthouse and the Malone Central School District, including the BOCES campus, went on lockdown for several hours Thursday morning.

Burdash was arrested by the Plattsburgh City Police on Thursday, is in custody, and has been charged with aggravated harassment and making terroristic threats. He’s being held in the Franklin County Jail on a $100,000 cash bail.
