A Voice from the Eastern Door
CORNWALL-- On Thursday October 26, 2023 at the Ottawa Heart Institute Rodney Anonhwaraweron Philip Leblanc, 54, of Alice Street Cornwall Ontario, entered the spirit world into the loving arms of his late parents Ronald Leblanc and Suzanne (Leroux) Leblanc.
Rodney was born February 2, 1969 in Cornwall Ontario. He was baptized at the St. Regis Catholic Church in Akwesasne and was predeceased by his godparents Gilbert and Irene Roundpoint of Akwesasne.
Rodney was the life of the party anywhere he went. A jokester and prankster whose smile and laughter could instantly light up a room. Aside from his comedic features Rodney was a caring soul who was always the first one to offer a hand to someone in need. The empathy and compassion he had in his heart for the downtrodden was nothing short of inspirational. Charming and sensitive yet tough and protective, Rodney's approach to life was truly authentic, he told it like it is whether you liked it or not. His poetic essence and creativity which he shared with very few was brilliantly breathtaking. Many would describe Rodney as incredibly hard working but it was his resilience and perseverance shown in the face of life's adversities that was most distinctive and admirable of his character. After countless hardships and obstacles when giving up seemed like the only option he continued to forcefully push through. He was always a fighter until the very end. He enjoyed watching boxing and documentaries and was also a nature and animal lover. Rodney was a total gym fanatic, avid reader, and absolutely loved listening to all genres of music. But most importantly he enjoyed spending time with the love of his life.
Rodney is survived by his eternal soulmate FloAnne Burns and her daughter Jillian "Big Deal" Benedict, a nickname in which he lovingly liked to call her. He is also survived by his dear brothers Richard and Greg Leblanc as well as his dear sisters Julie Leblanc-LaRose and Debbie Doner. Many nieces and nephews. In addition, he was predeceased by his sister Carolanne Hubert.
Rodney will be fondly remembered by his treasured friends and extended family from Akwesasne including the Burns, Francis, and Lazore families with special acknowledgement of the dear family of Late Jerry and Angie King.
