Jerome Diabo, (Medicine Bear)

Jerome Diabo, (Medicine Bear), age 67, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on October 4, 2023. Jerome was born in 1956 at home in Akwesasne. Son of the late Joseph and Charlotte (Mitchell) Diabo. He was predeceased by four sisters, Marjorie Lazore, Mary Johnson, Elizabeth Mayo, Marcia Rowley and a brother, Kenneth Diabo.

Jerome is survived by his daughter, Ashley Diabo of Syracuse N.Y., and his son Hunter Casey of Akwesasne and several grandchildren.

He is survived by two brothers, James Diabo and Norman Diabo (Gabby), a chosen brother, Alfonse Xldombeele; two sisters, Marlene Logan and Jean Jacobs (Louie John) – all of Akwesasne. Jerome is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Jerome was a Residential School Survivor. He attended local school prior to Residential School. He served in the United States Marines and travelled with White Roots of Peace. He loved to cook on and off the grill and was a very gifted artist – he enjoyed making people laugh.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes – West Branch, 20 Seventh Street West (613-932-8482). Following with Jerome's wishes, a private family dinner will follow at his sister Jean's residence.
