RESEARCH COORDINATOR

1 YEAR FULL-TIME TERM WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION

SALARY: $64,480/yr

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Akwesasronon Sonatanoron of Akwesasne, the Research Coordinator supports and oversees the actions of the research staff. Is directly involved with the development and implementation of policies and protocols for conducting interviews that will document and preserve the memories of residential school survivors and their families; identify missing children from Akwesasne through survivors’ recollections, archival records, and archaeological research; collaborate with local entities that will provide meaningful healing and memorial activities; and liaise with Indigenous, provincial, and federal leadership.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, archeology, or related discipline with

2 years professional experience with audio/video, archeology, environment, or psychology;

Minimum 2 years supervisory experience

OR

2-year degree in psychology, archeology, or related discipline.

5 years of experience in psychology, archeology, audio/video, and/or environment with

2 years supervisory experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Knowledge of Akwesasne community and geography.

Highly motivated individual that has experience with database creation, maintenance, and reporting.

Strong organization and time management skills.

Outgoing demeanor that is compassionate and patient regarding sensitive topics.

Team player that is willing and able to mentor, lead, and provide guidance to a growing team.

Understanding and knowledge of audio and video technical equipment and software.

Knowledge of budget management.

Strict adherence to confidentiality policies.
