AMPS officers stand by as other officers apprehend individual allegedly involved in Human Smuggling.
On September 14, 2023, at approximately 5:00 PM The Akwesasne Mohawk Police received information of a Human Smuggling event involving a Columbian National who was attempting to get into Canada from the United States illegally. Police were provided a description of the vehicle and the occupants located inside.
Akwesasne Mohawk Police observed a vehicle matching the description enter the village of Kana:takon (St. Regis) and attend a residence. Police conducted a stop and located four individuals including the Columbian National inside the vehicle.
Stephanie M. Square (50) of Akwesasne was arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant and beach of probation. The two other individual from Akwesasne were released unconditionally pending an investigation.
