A Voice from the Eastern Door

Dear Hogansburg Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department & Community Members

Dear Hogansburg Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department & Community Members,

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to the incredible efforts of our local volunteer fire department and the numerous community members who selflessly volunteered their time, support, and love during the funeral services for Towisonte Brian White.

First and foremost, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Hogansburg Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department. The respect and dedication to a fallen brother is second to none, allowing for Brian to be waked at the station in which he considered his second home. He loved being a part of the brother/sisterhood that is the foundation of safety in the community of Akwesasne. We also would like to acknowledge the idea of “The Last Ride”, words cannot describe the peace that fell over the family when we knew he was in your hands for the final ride.

Equally deserving our gratitude are the community members who willingly volunteered their time, resources, and support to help honor Brian’s memory. From the donation of the meal - Niawen Andy and Rosemary we can’t say enough about your service for the community. To the amazing community members that prepared it: Guzzy, Stephanie, and the Snye Rec team the food was amazing. I would also like to thank Andrew Bero for the tent rental and Fred, Dale, and JR for getting the house ready in record time. Our Seymour girls/family for all the baked goods that were delivered fresh and delicious as always. Stacy for the Eagle feather - he would have been very proud. To all the folks that brought in additional trays of food and donated funds to help in the costs of the funeral. For all of you we will be eternally grateful.

Niawen:Kowa

Rebecca White and Family
