Operation Trip Around The County Results In Business Closures

By Isaac White.

Several stores throughout St. Lawrence County were subject to a sudden raid on Thursday

morning, under the operation named "Operation Trip around the County." The operation is a

collaborative effort between multiple agencies.

The St. Lawrence County Sheriff, Brooks Bigwarfe, stated that the search warrants were served

in connection with the illicit sale of marijuana and narcotics, some of which were allegedly sold

to minors.

These warrants were carried out concurrently at several different locations across the county.

One of the locations, Famous A's, is reputed to be Akwesasronon owned. One individual in the

store, when asked what happened, said that they were raided. Indian Time was rebuffed in an

attempt to receive more details from persons who were in the recently searched store.

The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe's Cannabis Control Board released a statement to Indian Time.

"In response to seizures conducted today throughout St. Lawrence County of unlicensed

cannabis operations, the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe's Cannabis Control Board reiterates that it

has NOT licensed any cannabis businesses in Massena and has no further comment concerning

the non-tribally licensed retailers."

Specific details concerning the operation are due to be provided at a press conference, which is

set for 10 a.m. on Friday, in the board room of St. Lawrence County in Canton.

This is a developing story and will be updated as new information is available.
