The A'nowara'ko:wa Arena laid witness to a great season opener with the Akwesasne Thunder pitted against the defending OLA Founders Cup Champion the Nepean Knights.
In the first period Nepean lead the way in goals and in the penalty box with 2 goals and 3 penalties. The Thunder followed closely with 1 goal and 2 penalties. Going into the second period the Thunder answered with 3 goals and 2 penalties, with Nepean adding 1 goal.
In the third period, Nepean fought back and gained 2 goals and incurred no penalties. The Thunder managed to hold the games in a tie, with 1 goal against 3 penalties.
Going into an exciting overtime, Nepean scored 2 minutes into OT. Although the Thunder fought valiantly to tie the game, they ultimately fell short to Nepean by 1 goal, following the ten-minute overtime session.
