The Akwesasne Mohawk Police has requested the assistance of the Canadian Coast Guard, and an air search will be underway this afternoon. Please be advised that a low-flying helicopter will be searching the area.
AMPS media release stated, "It is important to note that a public request for information is not the first step in all missing persons' cases; if police can investigate and locate the missing individual while maintaining that person's privacy, it is the preferred outcome. In some cases, taking the additional step of notifying the public and media and asking for their help is necessary. That may happen very quickly in an investigation, or it may be a step that is taken later when all other investigative avenues have been exhausted.'
The AMPS, HVFD, Canadian Coast Guard have set up a command post at HAVFD Station 3 in Tsi Snaihne. This is a developing story.
