A Voice from the Eastern Door

Indian Time Newspaper Delivery Returns to Thursdays

After forty years of delivering Indian Time Newspaper (IT) every Thursday, IT was forced to publish on Fridays. Along with a change in the date of publication, the newspaper itself changed from a tabloid type of paper that typically measures 11 by 17 into a smaller, somewhat squarish paper. Contrary to what sometimes appears to be smaller print, the text and font remained the same size.

This all began the third week of October 20, 2022, for Vol. 40 #42. IT is printed by Johnson Newspaper Corporation (JNC), located in Watertown, NY. Originally, the newspaper was printed at the JNC Massena operation until their printing press broke down. According to JNC, the cost of repairing the printing press wasn’t worth it. Several North Country publications were affected. As JNC adjusted various printing times and dates for their clients, including Indian Time Newspaper, IT had to compete with larger publications under JNC for printing and delivery times.

When Vol. 40 #42 finally arrived that following Monday, the paper was in a new format. Since October, IT staff have been rearranging our work week, worked with our advertisers on sizes and designs and adjusted to the new five column format.

Finally, after eight long weeks of inconsistent publishing Indian Time will arrive back on the newsstands on Thursday mornings. To bring you the newspaper on Thursdays, our office hours will change to accommodate JNC operations. Indian Time offices will be open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Indian Time offices will be closed on Wednesdays and Fridays. Indian Time Newspaper is always available by emailing [email protected] or [email protected]
