FORT COVINGTON – Two Salmon River Shamrocks have signed letters of intent to play women's lacrosse at the NCAA level.
Joryan Adams will play for Niagara University. Wynter Jock has signed on to play for Notre Dame. They'll both play at the Division I level.
Both are multi-sport athletes who will graduate from Salmon River in June.
Salmon River Athletic Director Shawn Miller said the school is "proud of [them] and happy to have [them] represent Salmon River at the collegiate level."
Both athletes signed their national letters of intent at the high school on Wednesday, Nov. 9, as part of National Signing Day, surrounded by relatives, friends and supporters.
The NCAA manages the daily operations of the National Letter of Intent program while the Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA) provides governance oversight of the program. Started in 1964 with seven conferences and eight independent institutions, the program now includes 652 Division I and Division II participating institutions.
The NLI is a binding agreement between a prospective student-athlete and an NLI member institution. However, prospective college athletes aren't required to sign it and colleges aren't required to join the program.
