Strut Your Mutt at Generations Park

The Only Fur Baby Event in Akwesasne!

The dog kingdom of Akwesasne had their day on Sunday. Dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds were brought to Generation Park on Sunday, October 23 from 1 to 3 in the afternoon. Organizers were pleasantly surprised to see so many pets for this event.

Owners brought their loving companion, loyal protector, and best friend dressed in their finest to strut their stuff. With every costume from Batman to wizards to old ladies, vampires and ghouls.

The Strut Your Mutt was hosted by Akwesasne Animal Society (AAS). The AAS are registered nonprofit organization which started in 2016. Over the years they have accomplished some impressive things for our furry family members, like providing over 500 free vaccines, rescuing 100 kittens, providing low cost spay and neuter for over 400 cats and dogs, providing over 500 bags of free pet food and just as important – providing outreach and education to pet owners. All of this by volunteers.

During the Strut Your Mutt event organizers held a Mohawk Auction raising over $650 to assist in future endeavors held by AAS. Lyn Thomas provided the photography, Amber Dawn Lafrance, Kaly White and Jenna Herne assisted with registration and Mary Arqutte held down the concession stand. The parade of pets was emceed by Benjamin Herne.

Pet owners can look forward to 'Photos with Santa' in December. More information will follow.
