The Akwesasne Communication Society Board of Commissioners will hold their Annual General Assembly on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 6 p.m. at the SRMT’s Senior Center Sun Room located on Route 37 in Akwesasne.
The Annual General Assembly Agenda will be as follows:
1) Opening
2) Introduction of ACS Board of Commissioners
3) Approval of Minutes of 2021 Annual General Assembly
4) Presentation of the Financial Review
5) Amendments to the ACS Board of Commissioner’s Constitution & Bylaws
6) Announcement of Election Results
7) Other Business
8) Adjournment
There are two open seats on the ACS Board of Commissioners. An election will be held to fill two 3-year terms.
ACS Board of Commissioner Responsibilities: The ACS Board of Commissioners provides oversight for the 97.3 CKON radio station. They develop and ensure policies are followed. They also ensure financial transparency to the community of Akwesasne. The ACS Board of Commissioners is a working board. Commissioners must be willing to participate in the operation of radio bingo.
Community members interested in submitting their name as a candidate to join the ACS Board of Commissioners are asked to pick up an application at the CKON radio station. All applications must be signed declaring candidacy. To qualify as a candidate one must be at least 19 years of age and in possession of a Mohawk Nation Red Card, Certificate of Indian Status Card; or Tribal Identification Card. Completed applications may be submitted to Virginia Kawi Jacobs at the radio station or electronically by e-mail to [email protected]. The deadline for submitting completed applications is Thursday, September 22, 2022 by 4 p.m.
An election will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, September 26, 2022 at the SRMT’s Senior Center Sun Room located on Route 37 in Akwesasne. Successful candidates will be contacted to be present at the annual meeting where the successful candidates will be announced at 6 p.m. at the SRMT’s OFA Senior Center Sun Room, located on Route 37 in Akwesasne.
