A Voice from the Eastern Door
The weather was just perfect for the 21st Annual DisAbility Awareness Day at Generations Park Walking Trail on Friday, September 2, 2022. Community members were invited to stop by and check out the informational tables, play some games, and grab a pulled pork lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Community members had the opportunity to learning what programs and services are available to consumers. The Tribal Vocational Rehabilitation (TVR) program was host to the DisAbility Awareness Day.
Prizes donated by local businesses were given out to participants, but most importantly, spreading awareness on disabilities and services that are available in Akwesasne. Several SRMT and MCA programs were on hand to share information to all, including Community Support Program, Three Sisters Program, Healthy Homes, Family Support Services, Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children, Dept. of Social Services, AERC, Intensive Preventative Program, Education Division,
