FULL - TIME INDEFINITE POSITION AKWESASNE REPRESENTATIVE & ADVOCACY PROGRAM AKWESASNE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT
Salary Level: HS02 ST 2- $52,929.26
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Band Representative ensure that registered/eligible child and/or youth members and their family, who are involved in the child welfare system know their inherent and legal rights; are treated fairly, equitable, respectfully and are provided with culturally relevant services, resources and programs that are consistent with the vision, mission, and values of the Mohawks of Akwesasne. Having full party status, the person who holds this position is named by the Council to represent the Band’s interest in child protection proceedings or hearings. Should have a working knowledge of the Child and Youth Family Service Act of Ontario, Youth Protection Act of Quebec.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Social Work degree preferred, BA in related field accepted with;
Minimum two (2) years work experience in social work field OR
Minimum educational qualifications: Two (2) year College diploma in the Social Services (or equivalent or related field Law and Security, Child and Youth Worker, Social Work, Behavioural Science, Criminal Justice, Psychology) with;
Minimum four (4) years work experience in social work field
A Criminal Record Check is required before commencing employment
