A Voice from the Eastern Door
Kanenhakaion Wells, 20, of Akwesasne, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont.
He was born in Ottawa, Ontario on December 15, 2001, the son of Daniel J. Wells and Konwasennawi David.
Kanenhakaion had a flair for life and will be remembered for his quick-witted humor, jolly laugh and warm comforting hugs. Many would say that he was the bright spark in the family and that his smile would light up the room. His singing voice was a true gift and will be missed by all.
He loved spending time with his little girl, visiting with family, cruising with his friends, listening to music, gaming and driving the tractor. He was so proud of his little family and the life he was building.
He is survived by his loving partner, Taya Albert and his daughter Ember Reign Wells.
His mother Konwasennawi David. His father and stepmother Daniel J. Wells, and Jenn Bob. His siblings Rotsienhiio Wells, Tehawerahkhwa Wells, Kanorakwas David, Ienenstahawi David, Qayacus Wells, Qyiyek "Biggest Uncle" Wells. His grandparents Ernest David and Sandra Fox, Darrell Bob (Theresa) and Lucy Saul (Perry Jacob). His Aunties Katsitsionni Fox, Konwawihon Fox (Brent), Katsitsios David, Kahawanion David, Chenoa Riley (Ken), Lightning Rose Wells (Terry), Spotted Fawn Wells (Ryan), Bear Fox. His Uncles Sky Fox, Chris Wells (Fran), Alex Wells (Holly) and many cousins. His best friends Colton Doxtator, Allyn Mandamin, Logan Herne and Donovan Thompson.
He will be lovingly remembered by his Oneida family, Aksoht and Laksoht, Melissa (Tim), Tammy (Mike), and Auntie Smeesh (Rob), Elise, Iakotera'shwiio, Teya:ohnislastalate.
He was predeceased by his grandmother Eleanor Wells and Uncle Frank Wells.
Calling hours will be held at Konwasennawi David's home in Ganienkeh on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 beginning at 5:00 pm. Face masks are requested. The Funeral will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Mohawk Nation Longhouse in Akwesasne. Burial will follow in the Chubb Family Cemetery in Akwesasne.
