Cook-Francis scores 1,000th point in Salmon River basketball career; Jacobs sparks Massena girls b-ball win over Gouverneur;

Hawi Cook-Francis surpassed 1,000 points for his high school career, a 19-point performance against Malone. The Huskies ended up taking the Jan. 18 game 61-30.

Also, Tori Jacobs led the Raiders offense to a 59-48 home court victory over Gouverneur on Monday, Jan. 24. Joey Abrantes, Chase Gladding and Faith Halladay each scored nine points for Massena.

Monday, Jan. 24 boys basketball, Potsdam 58 Salmon River 40: Hawi Cook-Francis led the Shamrocks offense with 22 points for the home court loss. Ian VanWagner chipped in 30 for Potsdam.

Saturday, Jan. 22 boys hockey, Salmon River 4 Tupper Lake 1: Luke Miller chipped in a goal and a helper for the home ice win. Other goals came off the sticks of Ethan Moulton, Evan Collette and Kade Cook.

Saturday, Jan. 22 boys basketball, Massena 65 Peru 21: Luke Greco led the Raiders to a home court non-league win with a 10-point performance.

Saturday, Jan. 22 boys hockey, Shenendehowa 3, Massena 2 (OT): Trysten Sunday and Chris Marasco scored for the Raiders in a game that was part of Massena’s annual Mark Tyo Tournament. Colin Palmer scored the game-winner in OT for Shenendehowa.

Friday, Jan. 21 boys hockey, Salmon River 4 Ogdensburg 2: Connor Dishaw scored a goal with an assist to lead SRC to victory over OFA. Caiden Cartier, Kahentaienni Thompson and Evan Collette also scored for the ‘Rocks.

Friday, Jan. 21 boys hockey, Massena 6 Lancaster 2: Trysten Sunday netted a hat trick to spark the Raiders offense in a game of the annual Mark Tyo Tournament in Massena. Owen Converse, Chris Marasco and Zack Barney also scored for Massena.

Friday, Jan. 21 girls hockey, Massena 7 Beekmantown 2: Sophia Prentice fired in a hat trick to lead the Raiders. Brooke Terry scored twice. Ella Matejcik and Bella Cromie netted singletons.

Friday, Jan. 21 boys basketball, Salmon River 47 Hammond 30: Hawi Cook-Francis fired in 18 points to lead SRC to a road win over the Red Devils. His squadmate Charles Aldrich recorded 13 points.

Thursday, Jan. 20 boys hockey, Massena 9 Potsdam 3: The Raiders scored four goals early in the game to secure their win. Jake Smutz scored twice with a pair of helpers for Massena. Trysten Sunday netted two goals with one assist. Aiden Aldous, Chris Marasco, Ryder Sunday, Connor Terry and Bayley Rochefort scored one goal apiece.

Thursday, Jan. 20 boys basketball, Malone 56 Massena 51: Gunvir Jahal paced the Raiders offense in the narrow home court loss. Taylor Mitchell, Luke Greco and DeShawn Walton all scored 11 points for Massena.

Wednesday, Jan. 19 boys hockey, Salmon River 4 St. Lawrence 1: Ethan Moulton scored a pair of goals to lead SRC to a home ice win, with the other goals fashioned by Chase Lewis and Kade Cook.

Tuesday, Jan. 18 girls basketball, Massena 65 Norwood-Norfolk 30: Joey Abrantes sparked the Raiders offense with a 21-point performance while teammate Chyler Richards tossed in another 14 points.

Friday, Jan. 14 boys basketball, Canton 63 Salmon River 39: Hawi Cook-Francis was the leading scorer for SRC with 14 points. Sebastien Laughing tallied another 10 points.

Friday, Jan. 14 girls basketball, Gouverneur 61 Massena 35: Chyler Richards led all Massena scorers with 10 points. Raelin Burns led Gouverneur with 21 points.
