OFFICE OF THE CHIEF ELECTORAL OFFICER AKWESASNE MEMBERSHIP BOARD

The Akwesasne Membership Board has requested that an Election be held for a 2-year Board Member in all three districts: TsiSnaihne, Kanatakon, and Kawehnoke.

Nominations will be held from the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the following locations: TsiSnaihne Recreation Center, Kawehnoke Recreation Center and the Kanatakon Recreation Center.

Pursuant with Section 6 of the Akwesasne Membership Board Election and By-Election Regulations; to be an eligible candidate for the Akwesasne Membership Board, one:

Must be at least 25 years of age on the nomination date; and

Must be a member; and

Must be Onkwehonwe and at least one of their natural parents must be a member of Akwesasne; and

Must reside in the Territory of Akwesasne for at least 10 consecutive years, prior to their nomination; and

The candidate for Board member from a district, must reside in that district for at least one year immediately prior to their nomination; and

Must not have been dismissed from the membership board in the last 4 years prior to the election; and

Must consent and provide criminal record information at least 15 days prior to the election; and

Must not have been convicted of an indictable offence in Canada or a felony in the United States within 10 years prior to their nomination

An election if needed, will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Advance Polls will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 and on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 by appointment only
