Here is a wrap up of some recent Massena and Salmon River varsity sports action:
- Monday, Oct. 11, Shamrocks boys soccer, Westhill 3 Salmon River 0 – Ethan Moulton tallied five saves in the shutout loss in Syracuse
- Friday, Oct. 8, Raiders boys soccer, Massena 9 Malone 0 – Thomas Eggleston sparked the Massena offense with a trio of goals. Ty Lucey scored once and assisted once. Solo markers came from Bayley Rochefort, Ryan Letham, Aidan Aldous and Jaden Brownell.
- Friday, Oct. 8, Shamrocks boys soccer, Salmon River 1 Canton 0 - Rick Chatland scored with 26 seconds left in the game to lift SRC over the Golden Bears. Kade Cook helped set up the play. Ethan Moulton made six saves, and Hayden Todd made eight for the competition.
- Friday, Oct. 8, Raiders volleyball, Potsdam 3 Massena 2 – Massena won the first and fourth sets 25-15 and 25-22, but gave up sets two, three and five all by scores of 25-17. Faith Halladay paced Massena’s offense with 17 points.
- Friday, Oct. 8, Raiders football, Watertown 27 Massena 20 – Massena touchdowns included an 85-yard kickoff return by DeShawn Walton. He also caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Dominic Monacelli in the second quarter. Nolan Goolden scored for the Raiders in the final quarter on a four-yard sprint.
- Thursday, Oct. 7, Raiders volleyball, Gouverneur 3 Massena 2 – Massena won the first two sets 25-23 and 25-17, then gave up the following three 25-13, 25-13 and 25-22. Ella Murtagh scored nine kills and five service points. Felicity Engstrom had six service points and four kills. Makenna Cameron fashioned four kills. Faith Halladay had 14 service points and a trio of kills. Sydney Cardinal came through with nine service points and two kills. Payton Benson scored seven service points and one kill. Katelyn Benham tallied 20 assists and three service points. Keely Bova scored two service points and one kill.
- Thursday, Oct. 7, Raiders girls soccer, Massena 4 Malone 0 -- In the first half, Elizabeth Rogers and Gabrielle Laughlin each found the back of the Huskies net. Brooke Terry and Hailey Flynn did the same in the second half.
- Wednesday, Oct 6, Shamrocks volleyball, Salmon River 3 Madrid-Waddington 0 – The Shamrocks clinched a shutout win with set scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-22. Lila Mitchell finished the bout with six aces and four kills. Ava Mitchell had a solo ace with five kills. Katsitsiio Mitchell fashioned a kill, three aces and nine digs.
- Wednesday, Oct. 6, Raiders volleyball, Massena 3 Clifton 2 – Massena won the initial set of the back-and-forth game 25-18. Clifton took the next two by scores of 26-24 and 25-19. Massena rebounded and won the last two 25-21 and 27-25. Faith Halladay had 17 service points and four kills. Keely Bova tallied seven service points and two kills. Ella Murtagh had five service points, three assists, 10 kills and two blocks. Katelyn Benham scored five service points and three aces, also 20 assists and five kills. Payton Benson fashioned five service points, two aces and two assists. Felicity Engstrom notched three service points, three assists and four kills. Sydney Cardinal recorded five service points and two kills. Makenna Cameron pitched in two
service points and two kills.
- Tuesday, Oct. 5, Raiders boys soccer, Massena 2 Canton 0 – Jacob Smutz, earning the shutout win, made six saves in the Massena net. Goals came from Luke Greco and Jaden Brownell.
