A Voice from the Eastern Door

Despite local efforts by MCA Community Health Program and SRMT Heath Services, COVID-19 cases have been rising steadily and mostly in Akwesasronon youth. The number of rising COVID cases was as predicted by local and national health authorities and as warned - preventable.
MCA Community Health program reported three new cases on Tuesday, September 28, on the same day the SRMT EOC reported three new cases bringing the total number of cases on Tuesday to thirty-one (31) on the southern side of Akwesasne and eighteen (18) on the northern side.
Of those reported cases, SRMT EOC stated fourteen of those being under the age of 12 and three between the age of 12-to-18-year-old.
Currently, Health Canada has authorized the following mRNA COVID-19 vaccines for youth aged 12 and older:
Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine
Moderna Spikevax COVID-19 vaccine
People aged 12 to 17 may receive the same 2-dose schedule recommended for adults.
At this time, no COVID-19 vaccine has been approved for use in children under the age of 12 in Canada. Clinical trials are underway.
In the U.S., the CDC recommends everyone 12 years and older should get a COVID-19 vaccination to help protect against COVID-19. Widespread vaccination is a critical tool to help stop the pandemic. People who are fully vaccinated can resume activities that they did prior to the pandemic. Learn more about what you and your child or teen can do when you have been fully vaccinated. Children 12 years and older are able to get the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine.
In traditional teachings, children are the most precious to the Creator, they exist in a world closest to him. Innocent and left to adults to protect them.
