A Voice from the Eastern Door
The Salmon River Cross Country team is holding a community Mud Run 5k as a fundraiser for the team.
The Shamrocks will welcome all who would like to run their home crosscountry course on Saturday, Sept. 25 starting at 8:30 a.m. The course is at Salmon River Central School, 637 County Route 1, Fort Covington.
The course is 100% grass, 12 feet wide and is mostly flat. The course features two man-made hills with a 20-foot long “water pit” sandwiched in the middle. The pit is about two feet deep with a sand bottom. A second mud-pit was added before the first hill to make things more interesting. The mud pits are unavoidable, event organizers said.
The first male and first female finishers will receive t-shirts. Everyone else will get ribbons.
Packet pickup and registration is from 5 to 7 p.m .; same-day registration ends at 7:45 a.m., both at the track shed. The track shed is at the far end of the track by the back of the middle school. Event organizers are asking participants to use the parking lot by the high school/middle school.
Entry fee is $5 for current Salmon River students and SRC cross country or track/field alumni. The fee is $20 for those who register before the day of the race. Day-of registration is $25. People can pay in cash or check. No Canadian money will be accepted.
