Akwesasne Eagles Flag Football Starts Season 4-0

Host playday September 19th at Generations Park

The Akwesasne Eagles Youth Flag Football Program is off to a fast start in the 2021 Northern NY Youth Flag Football League season. Through four games, the young boys are 4-0 with wins over Massena Blue 28-14, Massena Red 21-14, Tri-Town 28-14 and Malone 1 by a score of 49-28.

The Eagles are a team of K - 2nd grade boys from Akwesasne. 2021 is the 10th year of operation for the Eagles program. Many players move on to play tackle football in surrounding communities when they age out of the Eagles flag program.

Young this year but very skilled, the boys have been practicing since the middle of August. The work they have put in is certainly showing on the field. Leading the charge offensively early in the season have been Thomas Fries (5 td), Noah Benedict (4 td), Jack Adams (4 td), Steele Gray (3 td) and Declan Tarbell (2 td); each with multiple touchdowns. Tahontariiakon Benedict, Dominik Fontaine, and little Tacoma Tillman have all crossed the goal line as well. Jack Adams has thrown for one TD to Steele Gray. Kamden Durant has shown a strong arm and steady QB play.

Defensively, Jack Adams, Kamden Durant, Steele Gray, Noah Benedict, and Lyle Benedict have been stout and aggressive flag pullers, with Adams leading the team in flags (18) through four games. Thomas Fries and Declan Tarbell share duties at the safety position, chasing down opposing runners who make it through the defensive line.

The Eagles roster also include Karter Thomas, Camden Bosum, Ariwaienens Herne, Kovie Cook, Chase Cook-Walker, Taycen Jock and Maverick Benedict.

All are putting in strong efforts and improving each week.

The Eagles are coached by Tsiorasa Barreiro, Anthony Tillman, Justin Durant and Rakwirahes Pembleton.

The Eagles will be back in action Sunday September 19th at Generations Field as they take their turn hosting a weekly league playday for the other teams in the league.

They play at 10 am and 1 pm on the main field that day.

Please come out to show support to these hardworking little guys!
