Setting the Bar - the 2021 Mohawk and Abenaki Art Market

The Adirondack Experience, the Museum on Blue Mountain Lake held their first annual Mohawk and Abenaki Art Market in August 2018. The 2019 Mohawk and Abenaki Market saw more artists and a wider range of techniques and skills. However, due to the pandemic, the 2020 Art Market was cancelled. This year's Mohawk and Abenaki Art Market featured master and emerging Indigenous artists from Akwesasne and Kahnawake.

The 2021 ADK Mohawk and Abenaki Art Market is the joint effort of the museum in collaboration with the Akwesasne Cultural Center and the Abenaki Cultural Preservation Corporation. All traditional and contemporary art was offered for sale on Saturday, August 28 in an outdoor market setting. Sales included basketry, painting and drawing, beadwork & quillwork, photography, textiles, pottery, jewelry, and mixed media.

This event celebrates award-winning works judged by a prestigious panel and showcases pre-eminent artists working in a wide variety of mediums.
