A Voice from the Eastern Door

Enjoy Labor Day Weekend but Stay COVID-Safe.

FCPH. Cases in Franklin County are climbing, and community transmission of the disease is high. Labor Day weekend symbolizes the end of summer for many, a last “hurrah” for parties, picnics, and cookouts. These simple pleasures should be enjoyed by all this weekend but, during this pandemic, there is a way to do it safely. If at all possible, avoid large gatherings and do the following to keep your party from turning into a “super spreader” event:

• Keep the guest list small and invite guests who are local.

• Know your guests vaccination status. If unvaccinated guests attend, they should wear a mask and distance if indoors.

• Hold your event outdoors, where the spread of COVID is less likely.

• Let people know that if they don’t feel well, they should stay home.

Franklin County Public Health Department strongly encourages residents and visitors to follow the current CDC guidance to wear a mask in indoor public spaces, regardless of vaccination status.

Getting vaccinated is the best protection from COVID-19. Go to vaccines.gov, or text your zip code to 438829, or call 1-800-232-0233 to find COVID-19 vaccine locations near you.
