A Voice from the Eastern Door
Pictured here are a few students currently attending the Akwesasne Freedom School. They played on the jungle gym, ran around playing tag and ate tons of watermelon while their parents worked all weekend, and then some, in 90+ degree heat to provide for them. The AFS Annual Dinner brings in much of the school's annual budget as community members gather on the school grounds to relax, bid on a quilt, purchase from local vendors or just to chat with an old friend or family member whom they haven't seen in a while. It was a very good weekend, with a family vibe much like Annual Dinners from long-ago. Forty-two years and going.
