Mohawk Council of Akwesasne General Election Nominees Announced

MCA General opened their nomination process on Saturday, May 22, 2021. Interest was high as a number of community members attended for all three districts. Unlike the 2021 Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal elections, two candidates are running virtually unopposed. Fifteen candidates were nominated for Tsi Snaihne four district chief positions. Seventeen candidates were nominated for four district chief positions in Kawehno:ke and eighteen candidates were nominated for four district chief positions in Kana:takon.

Five candidates were nominated for Grand Chief position.

Nominees have until Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 12 p.m. to accept their Mohawk Council nominations.
