ST. REGIS MOHAWK TRIBAL POLICE:

• On Jan. 17, Edward A. Briel, 25, of Massena was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, both misdemeanors, and improper plates. Tickets are returnable to Bombay Town Court on Feb. 2.

• On Jan. 17, Christopher D. Lewis, 19, of Ogdensburg was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and obstructed view. Tickets are returnable to Bombay Town Court on Feb. 2.

• On Jan. 18, Houston R.K. Delosh, 32, of Massena was charged with uninspected motor vehicle. Ticket is returnable to Tribal Court on Feb. 4.

• On Jan. 18, Tomika E. Patrick, 35, of Moira was charged with inadequate brake lights and speeding (52-35 mph zone). Ticket is returnable to Tribal Court on Feb. 4.

• On Jan. 18, Steven R. Thompson, 30, of Hogansburg was charged with uninspected motor vehicle. Ticket is returnable to Tribal Court on Feb. 11.

• On Jan. 19, Anthony N. Hawkins, 23, of Ogdensburg was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and operating a vehicle with obstructed view. Tickets are returnable to Bombay Town Court on Feb. 2.

• On Jan. 19, Stephen B. Biernat, 27, of Brick, N.J. was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Ticket is returnable to Bombay Town Court on Feb. 2.

• On Jan. 21, Awananiio C. Diabo, 32, of Hogansburg was charged with speeding (52-35 mph zone). Ticket is returnable to Tribal Court on Feb. 4.

• On Jan. 21, Aaron V. Adams, 29, of Hogansburg was charged with second-degree menacing, second-degree harassment and second-degree criminal contempt, all misdemeanors. Tickets are returnable to Bombay Town Court on Feb. 9.

NEW YORK STATE POLICE:

• Kristian L. Terrance, 34, of Akwesasne, Ontario was charged with driving while intoxicated at 9:50 p.m. Jan. 24 in Potsdam. She was released with an appearance ticket.

CORNWALL COMMUNITY

POLICE:

As a result of an ongoing investigation by the CPS Street Crime Unit, two individuals were taken into custody after a drug warrant was executed at a Carleton Street residence on the morning of January 20th, 2021. Wayne Bigtree, 61, and Cheryl David, 61, both of Cornwall, were arrested and charged with the following:

• Possession of a Schedule I substance x 2 (Cocaine and methamphetamine)

• Possession of a Schedule II substance (Nabilone)

• Possession of a Schedule III substance (Methylphenidate)

• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine)

• Careless storage of ammunition

• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 x 2

It is alleged during a search of the residence, police located a quantity of cocaine, Nabilone, methamphetamine and Methylphenidate. Police also located a quantity of Canadian and American currency and ammunition. The value of the seized drugs and currency is estimated to be over $2000.00. Both individuals were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 30th, 2021.

• Christopher Benedict, 40, of Akwesasne was arrested on January 24th, 2021 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on August 12th, 2020, the man had attended a Ninth Street business and was observed in possession of a quantity of heroin. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On January 24th, 2021, a member of the Cornwall Police Service attended Ottawa as the man was in custody on an unrelated matter. The warrant was executed, and the man was held for a bail hearing.

• Leon Cook, 40, of Akwesasne was arrested on January 24th, 2021 and charged with operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited. It is alleged the man was operating a motor vehicle while prohibited from doing so. He attended the Port of Entry and police were contacted. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 2nd, 2021.

AKWESASNE MOHAWK POLICE SERVICE

• On January 20, 2021 at approximately 11:00 PM, the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked at the end of Wade Lafrance Memorial Road (Dump Rd), in Tsi Snaihne (Snye), QC.

Police attended the area and located a vehicle parked on the roadway bearing Pennsylvania registration. A non-indigenous male was removed from the vehicle and detained contrary to the Immigration Refugee and Protection Act.

A search of the vehicle revealed personal items, maps, cellular phones, and computer hardware. The non-indigenous male was transported to the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service for further questioning.
