Hogansburg woman charged after allegedly fleeing traffic stop, nearly injuring state police officer

MALONE – A Hogansburg woman is facing several charges after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop and nearly injuring a state trooper.

State police say on Monday, January 18 around 1:24 p.m., They stopped a vehicle on Park Street in the village of Malone. The female operator refused to provide identification or comply with any other requests by the trooper, police said.

The investigating trooper made an arrest and opened the driver’s side door of the vehicle. The driver shut the door and drove away, nearly injuring the trooper, state police allege.

After a brief pursuit, the vehicle stopped in the parking lot of Alice Hyde Memorial Hospital. A front seat passenger fled from the vehicle and into the hospital, police said.

The female suspect, 50-year-old Tamra R. Cook of Hogansburg, was eventually removed from the vehicle and arrested, troopers said.

The passenger, who was located and taken into custody inside the hospital, was 33-year-old Augustus A. Allen, of Malone.

Cook reported pain to her wrists following the arrest and was evaluated at the Alice Hyde Memorial Hospital and released.

She was then charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree attempted assault, second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, two counts of resisting arrest, and third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle. She was released with appearance tickets for Town of Malone Court, troopers said.
