A Voice from the Eastern Door

Tribe's EOC Reports Zero New COVID-19 Cases: 67 Quarantined

01.12.2021. AKWESASNE - The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) reported no new cases of COVID-19 today, which is the first time since before the Christmas Holiday. There are however, 13 total active cases under the Tribe's jurisdiction and 67 of our relatives in quarantine. We wish all of our families and friends a safe and speedy recovery.

Health Services reported that 270 of the Moderna vaccines have now been administered to the community in accordance with the CDC's recommended guidelines; which includes healthcare staff, frontline workers, and elders. More doses are expected to arrive this week and groups are being prioritized. Please continue to be patient as individuals are contacted to schedule a vaccination.

The EOC extends appreciation to everyone who continues to place the safety and health of our community as a priority, including local businesses for implementing safety measures. Appreciation is extended to Jreck Subs Akwesasne for providing notification of a potential exposure that took place between January 4th and January 6th.

The increase in cases all around Akwesasne is evidence that we are not "out of the woods" yet, so please remain vigilant by following all the safety measures being recommended: wear a mask, practice social distancing, wash your hands, and avoid uncontrolled gatherings.
