December 1, 2020. AKWESASNE. The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is reporting one (1) new active case of COVID-19 today, which is the only active case under the Tribe's jurisdiction. The fifteen (15) positive cases reported on November 24th have all resolved. There is an anticipated surge in cases following the holiday break however, so individuals are urged to treat everyone as if they are positive.

COVID-19 Testing Availability

The event will be a test collection conducted in a drive-thru format at the former-IGA Building, located at 850 Route 37 in Akwesasne. Please follow the COVID-19 protective measure that will be in place.

The drive-thru test collection is available for all Akwesasne residents and non-member employees of local businesses and schools however, individuals may also schedule an appointment to receive a FREE PCR COVID-19 Test by contacting Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Malone at (518) 521-3322 or Mountain Medical Urgent Care in Massena at (315) 705-0700. Individuals must call ahead to schedule an appointment.

Individuals should wait seven (7) to ten (10) days after a suspected exposure to receive a COVID-19 test. A public health official will contact you to confirm contact with a positive case, as well as to conduct a daily wellness check and provide guidance. Isolation or Quarantine Orders may also accompany the initial call and must be followed.

Receiving a negative test result prior to isolating or quarantining for 14 days does not release you from staying at home, as symptoms can appear up to 14 days after exposure. A public health representative will contact and release you from stay-at-home orders at the end of the 14 days.
