A Voice from the Eastern Door
The Akwesasne Communication Society Board of Directors 2020 Election for three open seats was held on Wednesday October 21.
Following that Election, there was an appeal submitted by a community member and it was successful. As a result, a new Election was called for to fill two 3-year terms and one 2-year term to be held Friday, November 6.
Out of an abundance of caution due to a spike in COVID-19 positive cases in the community, the new Election was postponed until at least November 20.
Since the announcement of the postponement, one of the candidates vying for a seat on the ACS withdrew their name from contention.
As a result, the three successful candidates from the October 21 ACS Election will fill the three open seats.
The Akwesasne Communication Society welcomes back incumbent Diane Boots and newcomer Jamie Ross who will each fill a 3-year term and another newcomer, Mildred Cook, who will fill the 2-year term.
The ACS would like to thank outgoing ACS Board of Directors Agnes “Sweets” Jacobs and Brendan White for their time spent and dedication to the ACS during their terms.
Niawen to those in community who participated in the ACS 2020 Election process.
