A Voice from the Eastern Door
MASSENA. The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall will be at the St. Lawrence Centre mall in Massena on Thursday, August 13, 2020. Mall officials are looking for volunteers to read the names of the people who are listed on the wall. Volunteers will read in shifts from 9AM to 4PM. A name will be read, then a moment of silence and then read the next name.
Organizers noted reading of the names inscribed on the wall is not required, but it gives special meaning to the wall’s visit.
Visitors will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Visitors will have to opportunity to do rubbing of names if so desired. Paper will be provided. Barricades and markings on the pavement will be set up to help direct visitors safely.
For more information or to volunteer please contact the mall at 315 764 1001.
The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is being sponsored by the St. Lawrence Centre mall and will be on display from Thursday, August 13 to Monday, August 17, 2020.
Organizers are also looking for escort riders. Various groups will be meeting at the wall at 6 a.m. Thursday in Saranac Lake and escorting it to Massena. Anyone interested in joining the escort to Massena, please meet at National Grid lot in Saranac Lake at 6AM on Thursday.
