Malone, NY. Franklin County Public Health and Franklin County Emergency Operation Center report that as of this release Franklin County has 26 individuals with confirmed tests for COVID-19, 5 of these are currently "Active", 98 probable cases, 50 individuals are in quarantine/self-isolation. Franklin County Public Health reports 9,949 negative tests and 119 cases have been resolved.
The Franklin County Emergency Operation Center has set up a distribution center next door to the Sheriff's Department at 45 Bare Hill Rd, Malone, for NYS Clean Hand Sanitizer, that will be open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 1pm to 3pm. Tupper Lake and surrounding area residents/businesses are encouraged to contact the Tupper Lake Village Office for Hand Sanitizer, during their normal business hours. Saranac Lake and surrounding area residents/businesses are encouraged to contact Patrick Murphy at the Saranac Lake Chamber of Commerce for Hand Sanitizer requests. Anyone seeking daily statistics regarding Franklin County COVID-19 activity are being referred to the Franklin County website where they can find the COVID-19 dashboard. The Franklin County COVID-19 Information Center remains open, as well as the Alice Hyde Medical Center Hotline and Adirondack Medical Center Hotline.
As local businesses have entered their re-opening phases, there has been an increase in positive cases. The public is strongly encouraged to follow the CDC and NYSDOH guidelines for 'Social Distancing' and wearing masks to prevent community spread of Covid-19. Everyone must do their part to reduce the spread of this virus.
Antibody and Covid-19 testing facilities remain open. If you suspect you may have Covid-19, please self-quarantine and get tested as soon as possible. If you suspect you have already had the illness but were not able to be tested, please get tested for the antibodies. The data from these tests aid our Public Health Department in gauging the impact of the virus on our communities and help us to plan to deliver testing in needed areas.
